How many bags of mulch in a yard?

Bulk delivery is priced by the yard. The big-box aisle is priced by the bag. Someone always asks how they line up while standing in front of a pallet. This page is that conversion — not a full bed designer. Default math: 1 cubic yard = 27 cubic feet. At 2 cu ft per bag, that is 13.5 bags, which means you buy 14 if you refuse half bags. Change bag size if your store sells 3 cu ft sacks.

Common traps

  1. Pallet ≠ yard. Pallets are a shipping unit; yards are volume.
